Even though we’re in the middle of summer, Wheel of Fortune is gearing up for its 26th nighttime season. As usual, there will be some changes on the show, and we hope you’ll enjoy them. With a long-running program like Wheel, the challenge is making enough changes to keep things fresh but not alienating our regular viewers. The biggest change we ever made was dropping the “shopping” portion of the show in 1987, and there are still people who say they miss it. Actually, they think they miss the shopping, but take it from me, it was the most boring two minutes in television. Contestants hemmed and hawed as they tried to decide whether they wanted a lamp or an end table. If we had kept the shopping part of the show, I think we would be talking about Wheel of Fortune in the past tense.
And, as usual, we’ll be taking the show on the road this coming season. We’ll be traveling to the Big Island of Hawaii and Sea World in Orlando. Tough job, huh?
