It was late summer in 1987. Our grandson, Jesse, who was a great fan of Wheel of Fortune even at 18 months old, came down with a viral infection that put him in the intensive care children’s unit of a Grand Raids, Michigan Hospital. He lay there speechless for ten days.

By the tenth day, in the early evening, his condition improved to the point that the IV was removed and he was encouraged to try sitting up. He barely sat up and looked up at the TV set that was showing Wheel of Fortune. After ten days of silence his first word was “Vanna!”

We knew at that point he was getting better and would soon be going home.

Thanks Vanna and Wheel of Fortune for being there when we needed you. We wanted to share with you what our grandson looks like now.
